Description Simulation of beam deflector for a large-area scanning X-ray inspection system. The calculation determines the deflection and envelope transformation of a 300 keV electron beam over a 60 cm range. The calculation demonstrates the use of the BOUNDARY command to extend orbit trajectories outside the region of an applied field solution.
Results The input electron beam is parallel with an envelope radius of 0.70 cm. At the conversion point 42.0 cm from the deflector center, at maximum deflection the vertical width is unchanged and the horizontal halfwidth is 0.18 cm.
Comments To create the second plot below, load the field file into OmniView before loading the trajectory file. Plot limits are determined from the last file loaded. The calculation uses results from the example Cosine coils.
