Description Procedure to find the resonant frequency and Q factors for cylindrical and spherical cavities.
Results The test cases were a cylindrical cavity (radius 0.48", height 0.4") and a spherical cavity of radius 1.35 cm. The calculated resonant frequency of the cylindrical cavity was 9.410 GHz, within 0.02% of the theoretical value. The code-predicted Q value for the cavity was 8061, close to the theoretical value of 8065. The predictions for the spherical cavity were f0 = 9.695 GHz (theory 9.698 GHz) and Q = 14973 (theory 14594). Each WaveSim solution took less than 2 seconds.
Comments The geometries were based on a Comsol example for comparison. The Comsol values were close to theory at the finest mesh resolution.
